The TAM Charity ride 2026 is your chance to be part of a cycling team covering over 300km from Vienna to Budapest in what promises to be an unforgettable challenge. All in support of Action Medical Research, the UK charity dedicated to saving and changing children’s lives through its groundbreaking medical research.

Action Medical Research

As a team, we’ll all push our limits, share in the highs and the lows and together, be part of something bigger than ourselves to raise vital funds for life changing and lifesaving discoveries, bringing hope to so many families across the UK.

If I raise £1,000 where does that money go ?

In collaboration with Action Medical, we have been able to investigate exactly how your fantastic donations get put to work in changing and saving the lives of young children. Don’t forget, 2,000 babies in the UK are diagnosed with cerebral palsy each year, 55,000 babies are born prematurely and startlingly, 30% of all children born with a rare condition will lose their lives before their 5th birthday.

Your personal fundraising target of £1,000 will fund these essential items to provide treatments, operations, diagnosis, world class research and essential lab equipment to fund Action Medical’s critical finding solutions to these shocking statistics.

Click on the segments to see the impact of hitting our goal of £100,000.
If we achieve £100,000 in donations, that will provide 1,200 pieces of lab equipment to continue essential research. Remember, without the right tools, there are no breakthroughs for children and their families. 1,200 pieces of equipment would enable more breakthroughs at a faster pace and make a real difference to so many. Our event is seeking to generate funding for 1,000 hours of targeted lab research into specific illnesses. For a child with leukemia, 1,000 hours of lab research equals more treatments which equals the potential for more birthdays. Achieving our target of raising £100,000 will provide 500 children with an essential MRI scan. That’s 500 children receiving vital support turning insight into early diagnosis and treatment. The TAM charity ride’s £100k target will help provide 100 days of lab research or 20 weeks. Too many children with rare diseases won’t reach their fifth birthday. Just imagine the power of 20 weeks of lab research to help change that horrific statistic.

Additional Information

Meet Lizzie Deignan, MBE

Lizzie Deignan MBE is one of the most accomplished British cyclists of her generation, celebrated for her extraordinary impact on both road and track racing.

Lizzie won the UCI Road World Championship in 2015 and proudly wore the rainbow jersey as world champion, alongside a silver medal in the road race at the 2012 London Olympics which was the first medal awarded to a British cyclist on home soil.

Lizzie’s achievements also cover historic victories at the Tour of Flanders, Strade Bianche, Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the inaugural Paris-Roubaix Femmes, making Lizzie the first woman to win cycling’s three major women’s “Monument” classics. Lizzie has also claimed multiple stage race titles, national championships and Commonwealth gold amassing over 40 professional wins across a distinguished career culminating in Lizzie receiving an MBE for services to British cycling.

The TAM Charity ride focuses not only on raising funds for incredible causes but also championing gender equality in finance. Lizzie’s efforts in furthering female participation in sport as well as an advocate for mothers in sport makes Lizzie a perfect ambassador to encourage more female engagement from finance into road cycling. To those coming on the 2026 event, take some time to say hi to Lizzie and spend a few kilometres cycling with her on the last day.

Meet Dr. Sarah Ruggins

Sarah’s story is one of remarkable resilience and reinvention. Now recognized as one of the world’s leading endurance cyclists, her journey defies all odds: from paralysis to podium, she has continuously shattered expectations.

Originally an Olympic hopeful in track and field, a sudden illness left her unable to use her limbs for years. After reclaiming her independence, she aimed to break a world running record - only to fall just short. Undeterred, she turned to cycling. Just two years later, she shattered the outright world record for Land’s End to John o’ Groats and back, beating the men’s record by nearly seven hours. The media hailed it as “the sporting achievement of the decade.” She remains one of only a few women in history to hold an outright sporting record over male competitors. Dr. Ruggins has raced unsupported across more than 20 countries in Europe and Africa, braving extreme temperatures, wildlife, and isolation. She’s mastered problem-solving under intense pressure and severe sleep deprivation. Among her many accomplishments are multiple speed records, including the fastest to ride Britain and back, and the fastest women’s 1,000-mile time trial ever recorded. She will be embarking on her next world record attempt in June 2025 where she will attempt to be the fastest person in history - male or female - to cycle the length of the European continent. Beyond sport, Dr. Ruggins is a respected leader in finance, specialising in multi-asset product innovation and building high-performing teams. She’s an accomplished academic, speaker, and philanthropist, with her extraordinary life soon to be captured in a feature length film.

We are delighted to announce that fresh from her latest world record attempt, Sarah will be riding with the team for our three-day challenge to Budapest along with championing our push for greater female participation in sports and finance. Having the likes of Sarah and Lizzie joining us in 2026 marks a turning point for this charity event and we hope you will take the time to spend some time cycling and chatting with these incredible people.
